Symbian Developer Expo saw a slew of announcements from the world's best mobile innovators, April 23-24, 2002. The news that Siemens has become a shareholder in Symbian, joining owners Ericsson, Nokia, Matsushita (Panasonic), Motorola, Psion and Sony Ericsson, headed a long list of exciting announcements. Check out the website to get an idea of the keynotes of some of our most distinct industry leaders.
Well, it is about time that Nokia's 7650 and SonyEricsson's P800 hit the market. J-Phone already has 4 million camera-equipped devices among their customer base that send mobile picture messages happily to and fro. Which is actually the reason why Vodafone launched MMS first in Germany while only SonyEricsson's T68i is available in the shops.
I really hope that Symbian will win over Microsoft in the long run and that all shareholders and the 10 licensees commit to the Symbian's power by launching the majority of their devices based on the Symbian OS. Last one missing among the Symbian crowd really is Qualcomm. Would be very powerful if they joined the spin, right?
